The first time my mother was admitted to hospital in Kimberley in march 2024, we were desperate for accommodation at short notice and our friends recommended the La D Da lodge. We were pleasantly surprised at the affordability of their rooms, their staff friendliness, the clean and safe premises and rooms. We ended up staying longer than anticipated, which coincided with a big sporting event, which had booked out the whole lodge. As the lodge had not anticipated that we’d be staying so long and were not able to accommodate us for a few nights during this event, their reception staff went out of their way to find alternative accommodation for us within our budget. We returned after a few nights of staying elsewhere and were happy to be in familiar surroundings again. My mother was admitted to hospital again in May this year and the lodge was able to accommodate us once again at short notice with the understanding that we would not be able to give a date when we would be leaving. The manager offered us a more affordable long-term accommodation rate, which has really helped us as we have been staying at the lodge for close to 2 months already. We are not sure when my mother will be discharged from hospital, but the fact that we need not have to worry about accommodation has taken a load off our shoulders.
